The CCIT Council is an academic society at the University of Toronto Mississauga. Our purpose is to serve the interests of the ICCIT student body. Whether it is through an Adobe Dreamweaver workshop, a semi-formal, or a networking event, we are dedicated to CCIT students academically, socially, and professionally.
Mariya Younas
Position: President
Year of Study: 4
Program of Study: VCC Specialist
As the 2012-2013 President of CCIT Council, I am extremely pumped to steer this ship into a brand new year of serving ICCIT students a multitude of social, educational, professional – and in every way exciting – experiences and opportunities. ICCIT is an incredible program for students driven by their love of new media, writing, business strategy and design, and I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the way into a fresh new term full of shared creativity and innovation. Looking back on my past years of experience as an executive of CCIT Council, and several other academic and professional entities both on and off campus, I believe it’s safe to say I have a knack for seeing the potential in others and bringing their talents to the fore. I plan to continue to look for ways to immerse students in essential networking, volunteering and experience-building opportunities so that they may find a similar passion within themselves- and perhaps one day turn that passion into a career. A few tidbits about my personality: I devour novels like dessert, the Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection is like my fifth limb, and, Android > Iphone. If you’re driven, dedicated and looking for a place to channel your talent, shoot me an email at mariya.younas@ccitcouncil.com.
Rana Haram
Position: Vice President
Year of Study: 3
Program of Study: DEM Specialist & PWC Minor
My first encounter with CCIT Council took place during my first year, starting with the 2010 CCIT Frosh. That one eventful day made my whole first year experiences a lot easier because of the connections I have made with older and younger students as well as professors. Ever since then I have constantly been involved with Council to learn and offer what can better improve our program’s experience. As Vice President of CCIT council, it is my role to tackle any difficulties, whether social or academic, concerning the ICCIT student body, so don’t be shy to drop by the Council office to chat about practically anything that is on your mind! I can briefly describe myself as approachable, outgoing, and above all, nerdy. I love comedies and expressing myself through pen and paper. So, if you have any questions regarding ICCIT Council or ICCIT as a program shoot me an email at rana.haram@ccitcouncil.com and I will make sure to get back to you as soon as possible.

Program of Study: CCIT and English major, PWC minor
ICCIT council is a great opportunity for students to meet and connect with each other! We run some great events each year, and they become successful, perhaps even legendary, when we have lots of fun, energetic people attending them! As the 2012-2013 Marketing Director, I hope to work with committed volunteers to promote and market ICCIT council and everything we do to the entire ICCIT community! Through social media, flyers, posters, conversations, videos, broadcasts, hot air balloons, etc, I hope to get these events made known around campus! I also work as a UTM Residence Don, so I love chatting and working with people! When I’m not in the ICCIT office, you can find me sipping Starbucks while studying on campus, or else playing basketball on the women’s tri-campus team.
If YOU want to get involved, or if you have any questions about marketing for ICCIT council, or about ICCIT in general, please feel free to email me at stefany.bakelaar@ccitcouncil.com
Sarah Gong
Position: Academic Director
Year of Study: 4
Program of Study: VCC Specialist & PWC Minor
I’m the 2012-13 Academic Director, the person who will work to create opportunities that will benefit the more serious side of ICCIT student life. I’ll put together workshops to help you with your course work and networking nights to help you expand your professional horizons. In other words, my goals are to help first year students with their academic transition into university and to help upper year students prepare for their careers. I work at the UTM Career Centre during the Fall/Winter and I’m involved with many UTM clubs and societies too. About me? I’m talkative, short, and sometimes awkward. I’m detail-oriented and meticulous about it (pet peeve = my name being spelled without the ‘h’). I practically live at UTM, but I don’t live on residence. Things I want to do again: archery, play the violin, and draw on paper. I’m excited about the upcoming year! I have a few projects in mind, but I’ll need your help to make them reality. Want to get involved? Email me at sarah.gong@ccitcouncil.com.

I’m eager to get involved in the ICCIT council as the art director. I’ll be creating posters and an assortment of graphics for all kinds of ICCIT-related events throughout the school year. My passions are digital art (my weapons of choice are Adobe Photoshop and a little Wacom tablet) and videogames, and I’m looking forward to building my design skills, experimenting with new software and techniques and learning as much as I possibly can! If you have any questions at all, shoot me an email at laura.klamot@ccitcouncil.com.

ICCIT Council is a great way for students to get involved and connected academically, but what fun would it be without a few events? Special Events. As the 2012-2013 Special Events Director I plan on on bringing you many special events you’ll remember for the remainder of your years at UTM. My first encounter with ICCIT Council was during my first year at ICCIT Frosh and I’ve never looked back. Special events are a great way for all students to get to know each other, their professors, and most of all have fun! I can’t wait to see you at our two biggest events, ICCIT Frosh and our 2013 Gala! You can catch me around campus on the UTM Dance Team, studying endlessly in the library, or in the ICCIT Council office planning our next big event. Of course I’ll need your help to make these events as special as possible. Email me at paige.rasbach@ccitcouncil.com. Looking forward to a great year on council!
